Research Methods and Techniques Since establishment, we have established numerous ways and sources of data collection . We have developed contacts with Goskomstat, State Customs Committee, and other national agencies. We have relationships with over 40 Moscow-based and about 30 regional information and data collection agencies which enable us to retrieve necessary data in a timely manner. We have developed specific experience and techniques for collecting company-specific information. For poll processing we use SPSS software. Usually we present our reports in MS Word format, however, in later years Power Point presentations are getting wider acceptance by our clients. For international clients, materials are presented in English. Since 2002 we work as a technical assistance center to the Interregional Market Centers network (www.marketcenter.ru), which is a consortium, combining 67 independent marketing centers in Russia and other CIS countries. As a technical assistance center we are responsible for co-coordinating the activities of the centers in the area of market research and sales promotion, which enables us to conduct necessary field activities in these areas. We can also rely on our extensive network of regional partners of TNS in Russia to conduct primary research personal interviews all across Russia . For primary research we mostly rely on: face-to-face personal interviews, telephone interviews, focus group discussions, in-depth non-structured interviews, expert interviews, in-hall product/ad tests. In secondary research, conducing interviews with relevant experts, top/middle managers and officials is becoming a key factor in recent years. This information is invaluable to supplement the official statistics, customs data and publicized reports of local companies. We also extensively use publications databases, databases of quarterly/annual reports, various directories and reference materials. |
